It is always a pleasure to be speaking to Jackie Shroff. Unpretentious to the core, ever so warm and someone who gets into a conversational mode rather than sticking to a regular Q&A mode, Jackie Shroff doesn't allow any dialogue to turn mundane. It is no different this time around as well.
For an actor who 'returned' to the Yash Raj fold 20 years after AAINA earlier this year with AURANGZEB and would soon be seen in DHOOM 3 a fortnight from
now, Shroff Sr. has a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
On being asked that despite him being in the industry for so long, why did it take such a long time for him and YRF to come together, Jackie said, 'Hota hai. Industry choti hai par phir badhi hai. Doston se milne mein bhi kabhi time nikal jaata hain. Like for example me and Anil (Kapoor) are best of friends but it is so rare that we meet. Apne aap ko bas pakad ke rakhna chahiye. You need to have discipline, sanity and health right. Apni height hai, body hai, awaaz hai, kahin khada hota hoon toh dikh jaata hoon. Kuch toh hai aakhir. Apni sanity barkaraar rakhni chahiye. Logon se waapas milna phir ho hi jaata hai.''
Still, even though a film like DHOOM 3 is a major biggie, some of the films in the interim period that he has done haven't been too flattering for his stature.
Laughs Jackie, 'Arrey, mera stature kya hai yeh mujhe hi nahi maloom hai, why do you get worried?Mujhe darr nahi lagta ki main kya kar raha hoon.
Agar mere rahne se kisi ka bachcha launch ho jaata hai then I won't regret my decision.'
