If you are a die-hard Sunny Deol fan, then this one is definitely for you. There's plenty of action which only Sunny Deol can pull off in a realistic-stylish manner, as well as some heavy-duty dialogue baazi.
Watching Sunny Deol take on the goons, first-day first show in a multiplex in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, is quite an experience. There is a sizeable audience that is very appreciative of what is going on screen.
SSTG is a simple eighties plot. There is good and evil and the ultimate triumph of good over evil.
Singh Saab is Sunny Deol who has instituted a 'People's Party' to clean up the system. Much like Arvind Kejriwal, I guess. ''Mango People,'' he says referring to the Aam Aadmi, something what Saif Ali Khan had also said in LOVE AAJ KAL in 2009.

Giving his 'People's Party' a big boost from the media side is Amrita Rao who plays a journalist looking out for Breaking News. At first, she feels that Sunny is a goon, but when the film moves in flash-back mode to seven years earlier, all is clear to her and she expresses her support to help him in his fight for justice. By now even the Aam Aadmi is with him.
Seven years earlier, the story was quite different. But then Bhoodev (Prakash Raj) came into his life like a volcano and everything changed course.
He is now out to make amends and Bhoodev is game for an encore.
Sunny Deol pulls off all the action scenes with elan; be it using his powerful fists, leaping over obstacles or even stopping a speeding vehicle with his bare hands. He makes it look macho.
The narrative, however, stretches and the plot at most times is all too predictable. A few scenes keep going back to his past much too often and this dampens the pace of the action scenes. A smart use of the scissors on the editing table and SINGH SAAB THE GREAT would have been a little slicker film.
The music is very ordinary but Deol fans will get to see Dharmendra and Bobby Deol too make an appearance in one of the songs.
